The ex-marshall returned N2.6 billion to the federal government and has cooperated with the prosecution since his arrest in January. You will recall that Mr Amosu was arraigned alongside Gbadebo Olugbenga, an air commodore on on a 7-count charge of money laundering filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mother & Her Twins Detained In A Lagos Hospital Over N35,000 (photo)

According to Vanguard, a nursing mum Gloria Okore and her twins - a girl and a boy - have been detained at a private hospital in Lagos, seven weeks after she gave birth to them.

Reason? Her inability to settle the outstanding N35,000 hospital bill. Gloria gave birth on May 10th at the Bessylva Hospital and Maternity Home situated at 60, Surulere Street in Dopemu-Agege, Lagos, to preterm (7 months old) set of triplets but one, a girl, died due to lack of incubator to nurture her.

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has cried out over the alleged action of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to keep him in custody for “five years without trial.” Spokesperson to the former Minister, Jude Ndukwe in a statement said, “An inside source said a senior operative of the EFCC had told Fani-Kayode to the hearing of those around that they would make sure he is kept in custody “for another 5 years without trial.”

'Militants' Attack Ikorodu Communities, Several Feared Dead!

Gunmen suspected to be militants have invaded the Igbolomu and Ishawo areas of Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State. According to Vanguard, eyewitnesses who escaped from one of the invaded areas said the gunmen from the Niger Delta came through water channel since yesterday and have been shooting sporadically.

Benue State Gov Cancels LG Elections.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has told people of the state to forget local government election for now. The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), had earlier presented a bill of N1.5 billion for the conduct of the September 3 election to the governor.
Ortom later reduced it to N800 million.

Lightning Strikes 66 Dead In India


At least 66 people were killed by lightning in India in a 24 hour period Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forty-six deaths were in the northern state of Bihar, where 22 more were left injured. Twenty more were killed in the neighboring state of Uttar Pradesh.

26 People Killed Following Fresh Attacks By Herdsmen In Benue

No fewer than 26 people have been killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in an attack on three villages in Benue state in the last two days. According to Vanguard, the attacks which appeared well coordinated, occurred in Uzzar village in Buruku local government area, Anyii in Logo local government and Vase in Ukum local government Area in the state.

The Federal Government has explained why it decided to reduce the MTN’s N1.04 trillion fine to N330 billion. It said the decision was taken to give impetus to foreign investors in the country.
