Police Arrest Suspected Kingpin In Lagos Over Fake Bank Alert.


A middle-aged man, Pius Asomba, suspected to be the leader of a notorious syndicate that specialized in dispossessing businessmen of large sums of money through fake bank alerts, has been arrested by the police in Lagos.
The Anambra State-born suspect was arrested after he jumped bail and disappeared for over two years.

Estate Manager Converts Dead Man’s N33.7m, Properties.

A trustee to the estate of the late Mr. Abiodun Toma Ikomi, Adebayo Shogeyinbo has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrates’ court for allegedly converting the monies and properties of the deceased, comprising about N33.7m, five cars, 97 shops, buildings and parcels of land to his personal use.

Former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, has made some “mind-boggling” revelations on the $2billion “phoney” arms contracts, a source said yesterday. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and a Federal Government committee are probing how huge sums of money meant for procurement of arms went down the drain during the Dr. Goodluck Jonathan administration. An interim report indicates that about $2billion may have been disbursed for inexplicable reasons. Dasuki was arrested on Tuesday by the Department of State Services (DSS). Man Dies Aboard Arik Air’s Owerri-Lagos Flight.

A 57-year-old man, Albert Nnadi, was on Wednesday confirmed dead on board an Arik Air flight from Owerri to Lagos.
The passenger was said to have been found dead at the point when passengers were disembarking the flight at the Murtala Muhammed Domestic Airport Terminal One, Lagos.
The deceased, who was accompanied by one of his relatives, identified as Damien Nwachkwu, was said to be traveling to Lagos to seek medical assistance on obesity.

A young man in his late 30s, Saheed Bamiro, was Wednesday morning shot dead by a policeman, simply identified as Kabiru for resisting arrest in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

South Africa tops list of most corrupt countries said a Transparency International survey released onTuesday. According to the report, 83 percent of South Africans interviewed felt that corruption had increased, with Ghana and Nigeria also among the worst-affected nations. Across all 28 countries surveyed, the police, business executives, government officials and the courts were all perceived as corrupt, with 75 million people estimated to have paid a bribe in the past year. 26-Year Old ‘Disappears’ From Police Cell.

The whereabouts of a 26-year-old youth, Waidi Kabiru, had been a mystery since Sunday, November 23, after he was reportedly whisked away from the custody of the Igbogbo Police Station, Lagos State, by a three-man gang.
