The Federal Government has explained why it decided to reduce the MTN’s N1.04 trillion fine to N330 billion. It said the decision was taken to give impetus to foreign investors in the country. The Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, at the venue of an Achiever’s Award ceremony in honour of Senator Lekan Balogun, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, weekend, said there was need to give foreign investors impetus to continue investing in the country.

Two Shot Dead As Students Clash With Police At Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Ondo State.


There was confusion on Sunday at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, after policemen attached to the ‘B’ Division Police Station, Otapete, reportedly opened fire on protesting students.
It was learnt that three students sustained gunshot injuries during the incident and had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, for treatment.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Borno on Sunday said it had discovered a “spiritual book“ suspected to be used by Boko Haram to hypnotize their victims.

Armed Robbers Kill Bank Customer, Colleague In Lagos.

 
A bank customer who had gone to withdraw an undisclosed amount of money was shot by a six-man robbery gang yesterday at Odunade, Alaba area of Lagos, dead, carting away the withdrawn amount.
The suspects as gathered stationed their operational bikes close to the bank. On sighting the male customer coming out of the bank, three of them reportedly accosted him and shot him at close range, before collecting the money from him.

Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari will no longer be arriving today has earlier scheduled. The president has extended his vacation by five days and will be back to the country on Sunday, he said.

Ecobank Manager Arrested Over 14 Million Naira Fraud



The operational manager of Ecobank of Nigeria, Ejigbo branch, Akhanenu Ikechukwu, 41, has been arrested by the police at the Ikoyi Division Lagos, for allegedly withdrawing N14,014.157 from the account of two customers of the bank without authority. The police also accused him of sharing the money with his partner in crime, Nduka Stephen,36.
