The Ogun State Government has pulled down a two-storey building belonging to The Redeemed Church Of God, located within the highbrow Obasanjo Hilltop along the Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta, the state capital. The two story building was pulled down on Friday.
Though the senior special assistance to the Governor on Media denied the Governor had a hand in it, he however made it clear that it was the job of the state Ministry of Urban Development and Physical Planning and they were only carrying out their job. He also emphasised it has nothing to do with the governor and neither was it political.
Some church members, who were present when the demolition took place, had no choice than to fight back tears has their pleas fell on deaf ears. We learnt the officials insisted the building must be pulled down, arguing that the structure contravened the estate design plan, which was reportedly residential.
