Police Discover Buried Arms in Anambra


Anambra State Police Command made a startling discovery on Tuesday, when its men uncovered a cache of ammunition buried at a construction site at Umuowelle, Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Nkeiru Nwode, who confirmed the discovery, said the ammunition were unearthed by some labourers who were digging the foundation of the building and reported to Neni Police Division which went to the place and cordoned it off.
She said: “The Police this morning discovered a large quantity of ammunition at a parcel of land where building work was going on at Umuowelle, Agulu in Anaocha.
“Some labourers at the site struck at the ammunition and reported to the nearest Police division and this morning, the Commissioner was there to personally see things for himself.
“The ammunition are large, and is worth millions of Naira, investigation is still on and soon we shall get to the roots of this”.
Nwode said no arrests had been made while the ammunition had had been sent to the appropriate units for determination of their calibres.
