RCCG Donates 12 Classroom Building To Lagos Primary School

To complement Lagos state government in its efforts at infrastructure provision, the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG, Solid Rock Parish, Ojodu, Lagos has built and equipped a 12-classroom block as donation to Ojodu Primary School.
At the formal handing over ceremony of the ultra modern building to the school last week witnessed by officials of the state government, very senior pastors of RCCG, royal fathers, community leaders and the general public, Pastor Bola Odutola who is in charge of RCCG LP 40, said in his welcome address “Realizing the magnitude of resources Lagos state government requires to provide qualitative education for its teeming population, the RCCG, Solid Rock Parish decided to assist in our own little way by building and equipping this block of 12 classrooms for Ojodu Primary School”.
Pastor Odutola who noted that education is one of the most important sectors of the socio-econmic development of any country, added that irrespective of the richness of a school curriculum, the environment for must also play a key role as it must be relatively conducive for effective learning to take place, which informed the decision of the church to embark on the project.
Handing over the classroom building to the school authority, Pastor Femi Atoyebi SAN, Pastor in charge of RCCG Region 19, who said the building was put together under the inspiration of God, disclosed that the kind gesture will be replicated every year as the church’s contribution to the state in appreciation of the good work it is doing.
The Special Adviser to governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Education, Mr. Olufela Bank-Olemoh, commended the church for the donation, pointing out however, that the success of state government is also one of the challenges facing the state, as people migrate into Lagos on daily basis thereby stressing the insufficient available facilities.
According to Bank-Olemoh, the state is happy that the RCCG is partnering with the state to improve the state of facilities provided by state government. He said the state has over 5000 schools while more schools are required, adding that the only way the state can achieve this, is to embark on private public partnership.
He therefore charged the church to do more in assisting the government. Lagos state chairman of SUBEB, Ganiyu Sopeyin congratulated RCCG on behalf of the state, particularly Solid Rock Parish, pointing out that the donation showed the commitment of the church to humanity.
“We ask for more. Let the school authority take very good care of the facility. Let the building be maintained by the school authority for it last”, Sopeyin advised. Remarking on behalf of Baale of Ojodu and the entire Ojodu community, Asiwaju of Ojodu, Omoba Adeleke Osilaja expressed gratitude to the church and the state government over the donation, adding that by this donation, it shows that RCCG is socially responsible.
