MOTIVATIONAL! Viola Davis Makes History As The First Black Woman To Ever Win Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama At The 67th Emmys.

Viola is the first black woman to ever win in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series category.  yesterday, she broke a 67 year Emmy jinx to be the first black woman ever to win in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series category.  this can be a form of compensation for her loosing out on the academy for the best actress at the 84th Oscars for her role in 'The help', which till date is one of her best movies yet. She lost to Meryl strip who won for her role as Margaret Thatcher in 'Iron Lady'. That year her co star Octavia Spencer won the best supporting actress for same movie.

After she was announced winner, Viola gave a powerful speech as she accepted her award, which left Kerry Washington and Taraji P. Henson(who was also nominated in the category) welling up with tears. She said:
'In my mind, I see a line. And over that line I see green fields and lovely flowers and beautiful white women with their arms stretched out to me to get over that line but I can’t seem to get there no how. I can’t seem to get over that line,' she said. 'That was Harriet Tubman in the 1800s. The only thing that separates women of colour from everyone else is opportunity.

'You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there, so here’s to all the writers - the awesome people. People who have redefined what it means to be beautiful to be sexy to be a leading woman – to be black. To the Taraji P. Hensons and the Kerry Washingtons, thank you for taking us over that line. Thank you to the Television Academy.'
