Ebola Hits America: CDC Confirms First Case Of Dreaded EVD In Texas!

A Texas man just back from West Africa has been confirmed as having the first case of Ebola to be diagnosed in the U.S.

Authorities with the Centers for Disease Control revealed the finding Tuesday, two days after the unidentified patient arrived at a Dallas hospital with suspicious symptoms.

Officials at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas put the man into "strict isolation" and sent a blood specimen to state and federal labs for testing.

The CDC said results show the man has the deadly disease which has been linked to more than 3,000 recent deaths in Africa. According to the World Health Organization, there have been more than 6,500 cases confirmed in Africa, with Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone among the hardest hit.

Dr. Christopher Perkins with the Dallas County health department told reporters that the Texas man didn't start showing symptoms until he arrived home.

"We know at this time this person was not symptomatic during travel but became symptomatic once arriving here and being home for several days," said Perkins, according theDallas Morning News. "So that decreases the threat that might be to the general population."

The CDC has a team enroute to North Texas to help health officials re-trace the man's contacts since he has been back in the states.

Dr. Thomas Frieden, CDC director, said the man arrived from Liberia on Sept. 20, but didn't start feeling ill until Sept. 24. The man saught medical treatment last Friday before being sent home, but later admitted to the hospital on Sunday.

The deadly Ebola-EVD has been around since the 1970's (on and off), but the recent outbreak which started early this year and has been traced to Guinea is said to have been the worst yet, since the virus was discovered.

3 Students Shot To Critical Condition After Gunmen Storm ESUT!

Three students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Agbani, are in critical condition at the the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) after being shot and wounded by suspected armed bandits who invaded their hostel, The Nation reports.

The affected students are currently undergoing intensive surgery at the hospital where they were rushed to in the early hours of Saturday. One of the students was shot in the stomach and it was suspected that some pellets of the bullet were lodged in his abdomen for which doctors are battling to remove.

The two other victims were also undergoing surgery at the hospital while efforts were being made to contact their parents.

The Unique Hostel where the incident occurred and other hostels within the Agbani Permanent site of the university, according to sources, have been placed under security watch as it was suspected that the gunmen could be members of a secret cult.

To forestall a reprisal attack, the source said, the management had taken measures to beef up security at the hostels with plain-clothe policemen deployed to strategic locations.

Police spokesman, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu,  who confirmed the armed attack said that preliminary investigations revealed that the gunmen could be "student robbers",  assuring that the police would do everything possible to get to the root of the matter.

He could not say if any arrest had been made but he said that the command was already on top of the situation and would give further details after the ongoing investigations.

"From what we gathered when the gunmen attacked some students at the ESUT Unique Lodge, which is mainly Boys Hostel, there was a stiff resistance by the students who succeeded in arresting one of the gunmen.  The arrested gunman alerted his armed colleagues who returned to the hostel and began shooting indiscriminately during which three of the students were shot and wounded," the police spokesman said.

Chinese Man Offers To Pay $160,000 For A Mother!

A man from China's Sichuan Province wants a mother so badly that he's offering one million yuan the equivalent of US$160,000 to any woman willing to take on the role, according to Global Times. Kuan-Yin Tsui, who is in his mid 30s, has suddenly become an internet sensation in his native China following the bizarre proposition.

Tsui, according to the newspaper's report, mostly sits at a park with a bowl of banknotes in front of him, hoping to find a mother. Behind him is usually a red lantern with his phone number plastered on it and a large poster displaying his terms – a would-be mother who was at least 57 years old, well educated, and without a history of drug use. However, all would still depend on whether he felt a 'connection' with any of his applicants.

An interested applicant, Juan Lei, who was turned down by the young man, narrated her experience.

"I went to speak to him to ask if it was a real offer, and he told me I was too young for the job and he only wanted older women," she recalled.
 
"I just wanted to know why he wanted a mum and he said he had been raised in an orphanage, and after making a success of himself, he felt he missed out on having a mother to be proud of him, and treat him like a son.
 
I felt quite sorry for him actually, he looked really lonely but this isn't the way to go about filling that gap in life. "I told him he should marry and that way he could share his wife's parents, but he didn't seem impressed with the idea," Lei added.
Tsui has continued with his strange act, telling locals who tried talking him out of the idea that he would not stop until he finds a mother, a figure he admits he misses so much having been an orphan for most of his life.

FBI Identifies ‘Jihadi John’ Seen In ISIS Execution Videos!

The FBI has identified the ISIS executioner who appears in the beheading videos of US journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, and British aid worker John Haines. Agency director James Comey told reporters today that he knew who the militant was but would not be releasing his identity or nationality to the media.

The executioner, who has a British accent and has been dubbed Jihadi John, is one of four British jihadis known as the 'Beatles' holding hostages in Syria. He appears in the group's execution videos wielding a knife – and taunts President Obama before carrying out the killings

Today British officials would not say if the identity had been shared with the authorities on London, and would not be drawn on whether any arrests are imminent. A Home Office spokeswoman said: 'We won't be commenting on matters of security at this stage.'

LASG Begin DNA Identification Test As South-African Victims’ Relations Vow To Sue TB Joshua!

Thanduxolo Doro and Mpho Molebatsi, two South Africans who both lost their sisters at the Synagogue building collapse on September 12th have vowed to drag pastor T.B.Joshua to court for what they describe as negligence on the part of the church for not allowing rescue workers help save the victims after the collapse as well as withholding information after the unfortunate incident.

The South Africans who were guests on a BBC programme this week said they are calling on other family members to come forward so that they can unanimously press charges against T.B. Joshua
"I understand that some families are afraid to take on someone who purports to be God's messenger and I don't blame them but I will do this. It is not that the building collapsed, rather what was done after the collapse. We didn't get any news from the church. When I contacted them they wouldn't tell me anything. We saw reports that emergency workers were denied access initially, access that could have saved lives. The actions of the church after the incident are very telling,"  Doro, whose sister Vathiswa Madikiza died said
Doro has since published an open letter in a South African daily calling on more families to come forward so they can all sue T.B. Joshua,
"I need to do this for her. Even if I stand alone, I am determined to see that something is done" he said
In a related development, the Lagos state government today announced the commencement of the DNA identification test of the 115 dead bodies brought out from the collapsed building.
 
While announcing this, Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris called on families who lost loved ones to come forward with DNA samples so that the bodies can be properly identified and released to them for proper burial. He said loved ones of the dead victims are to visit the Department of Forensic Medicine at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital(LASUTH) from today to submit samples that could aid the forensic identification and DNA analysis of recovered bodies. He said only children, parents and siblings of the deceased are eligible to submit samples.  

The Lagos state government today September 26th also constituted a coroner inquest that will investigate the real reason the building collapsed. The Lagos state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Ade Ipaye in a statement said Magistrate O.A.Komolafe who headed the Dana Air crash case will be heading the coroner inquest.
