Photos: 20-Year-Old Mom Who Abandoned Baby On Subway Platform Arrested!

The 20-year-old mother who abandoned her baby girl on a sweltering Manhattan subway platform on Monday was struggling to cope with caring for the child, she told cops. Frankea Dabbs, who moved to New York from North Carolina just days ago, has been charged with abandoning a child after she left her 10-month-old daughter, Milani Edmonds, alone on a train platform at Columbus Circle on Monday morning. 'She felt she couldn't take care of the baby and thought she was leaving her in a safe public space,' NYPD spokesman Stephen Davis said. Relatives said that Dabbs, who was homeless after arriving in New York on July 2, had been plagued with troubles in North Carolina, including possible mental health issues and witnessing the killing of her baby's father. Dabbs was forced to cower under the bed in their home in Clinton, North Carolina as masked intruders shot the man dead, her father Franklin Dabbs told the New York Daily News. 'She was there hiding under the bed,' he said. 'I told her, "It could have been you".' Online records and mug shots also show she has previously been arrested for possession of marijuana, assaulting an officer, breaking and entering and solicitation for prostitution.
On Tuesday, Dabbs was found around 12.30am near 72nd Street and Broadway after a passerby recognized her from security footage and alerted a nearby police officer, DNAinfo reported. She allegedly admitted to the officer that she was the mother of the baby girl and was able to provide her name, age and medical history. On Tuesday, she was pictured being hauled in handcuffs to her arraignment by NYPD Transit Robbery Squad detectives. On Monday morning, Dabbs had allegedly pushed the baby's stroller from a northbound 1 train at Columbus Circle before darting back inside the train. Surveillance footage released by the NYPD showed the woman entering the subway with the baby in the stroller earlier in the day, but there were no cameras on the platform where the incident occurred. A 33-year-old bystander saw the baby alone on the platform and stayed with her for about 20 minutes, waiting for the woman to return. When no one came to claim the child, the witness contacted the MTA who took the baby to Transit District 1 Police Station. The baby was then taken to St Luke's Roosevelt hospital for evaluation before she was handed over to the NYC Administration for Children's Services.

The girl had a rash on her face and bandages on her hand but is said to be in good condition. She was reportedly wearing a red and white blouse with red leggings and pampers.  Authorities believe the mother left her there intentionally because no one came forward to claim the baby girl. Patricia Floro, 44, who got off the train at the station with her two-year-old daughter in a stroller, told the Daily News it appeared like a desperate act. 'She must have her reasons for doing that. I mean something else is going on, something deeper that would make her do that,' Floro said.

A 33-year-old bystander stayed with the baby for 20 minutes, waiting for the woman to return. When no one came to claim the child, the witness contacted police

Photos: EFCC Arraigns 3 Suspected Impostors For N141.7m Securities Scam!

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday July 7, 2014 arraigned three suspects: Mohammed Rabiu (65 centre), Raphael Olorunfemi Okomoda (50 - left) and Adegbesan Theophilus (38 -right); before Justice Lawal Akapo of a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja on different criminal counts, all bordering on conspiracy, obtaining money by false presence, stealing, impersonation, forgery, using false document and money laundering. While Lawan was charged with 19-counts, Okomoda and Theophilus were charged with 7-counts each. The defendants got into trouble, when they were arrested by operatives of the Commission, following a report of fraudulent sale of shares of two deceased shareholders who had shares in several blue chip companies including, Agip Nigeria Limited, Total Oil, Union Bank Nigeria Plc, Nestle Nigeria Plc, Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc, Unilever Nigeria Plc and Nigeria Breweries Plc.

The stocks originally belonged to Alhaji Shande Ako Dzungwe and Alhaji Isa Koto (both deceased) but were fraudulently claimed, converted and sold by the three defendants. Lawan allegedly forged identity cards, drivers licenses; school certificates and international passports of both Dzungwe and Koto, to perfect the scam.

The total value of shares converted and sold by the three defendants  was N141,652,951( One Hundred and Forty One Million, Six Hundred and Fifty Two Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifty One Naira)

In view of their plea, prosecuting counsel, Fadike Giwa, prayed the court for a trial date and the remand of the defendants in prison custody. Giwa informed the court that she had filed a 22-paragraph counter-affidavit and a written address urging the court to deny the defendants bail in favour of accelerated hearing of the suit.

Counsel to the three defendants, J. H. Bashir, informed the court of his bail application and a written address, urging the court to grant the defendants bail. He specifically prayed the court to admit the defendants to bail "owing to their fragile health condition," but Giwa countered that the EFCC had been taking good care of the medical needs of the defendants.

Justice Akapo, after listening to both counsel, adjourned the case till July 8, 2014 for ruling on bail applications and ordered that the defendants be remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Lagos.
One of the charge reads: "Mohammed Rabiu Lawan (alias Shande Ako Dzungwe), Raphael Olorunfemi Okomoda, Adegbesan Theophilus and others (still at large) on or about the 16th day of May, 2013 at Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division with intent to defraud, conspired to obtain the sum of N11, 493,137.83 (Eleven Million, Four Hundred and Ninety Three Thousand, One Hundred and Thirty Seven Naira, Eighty Six Kobo) property of late Shande Ako Dzungwe".

Another count read: "Mohammed Rabiu Lawan (alias Isa Koto) on or about the 16th of May, 2013 at Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division with intent to defraud posed as Alhaji Isa Koto and fraudulently instructed Fidelity Security Limited to sell 216,625 units of Guinness Plc shares valued at N44,092,048 (Forty Four Million, Ninety Two Thousand and Forty Eight Naira) and transferred the proceeds into a Fidelity Bank account you opened in the name of the said Alhaji Isa Koto and withdrew same".

Jailed Robbers Returns 10 Years Later To Kill Victim's Son In Ebonyi!

Double misfortune has befallen Okorie Orie, a native of Ibenda Effium in Ohaokwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, whose son was killed by an unrepentant gang of robbers that had robbed him 10 years earlier.

A decade ago, 37-year-old Uchenna Okereke, led six other robbers to rob Okorie Orie, dispossessing him of millions of naira and successfully escaped.
But the victim was able to recall the face of Okereke and he correctly identified him to the police, who acted on the information and arrested him. During interrogation, he revealed the identity of the other six members of his gang.
They were all tried, convicted and slammed with 10-year jail term, which they served and were subsequently released.
For the duration of the jail term, Okereke nursed a grudge, vowing to take vengeance against Orie.

Not long after his release from prison, Okereke assembled his gang for the long nursed revenge mission.Sunday Sun gathered from the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Mr Maigari Dikko that the gang stormed the home of Orie at about 8.30pm.Recalling the horrible memory of that night his 28-year-old son, Onyekachi Orie was killed in cold blood, Orie told Sunday Sun:
"It was a shock that I can never forget in my life. The suspect, Uchenna Okereke and his gang robbed me of millions of naira 10 years ago and ran away. I was able to remember his face and reported to the police. He was arrested with members of his gang and remanded at Abakaliki Prisons. They were tried and sentenced to jail for 10 years.
"Then one night, I was in my house when a dog started barking immediately I sensed danger. I came out and hid myself in a nearby bush. The suspect, Uchenna Okereke and his gang came into the house. I heard him asking my neighbours where my room was and they were shown my room. They saw somebody sleeping on the bed and thought I was the one. They didn't know it was my son who was sleeping on the bed. They just shot him.
"From my hiding place, I heard one of the suspects say that the person who they shot was not me but my son. I summoned courage when I heard the gunshot and flashed my torchlight at them. I was able to identify the suspects, namely, Uchenna Okereke, Chukwuma Ozoemena and Nwabueze Nworu, who killed my son. Immediately I reported to policemen, who promptly arrested the suspects.
Commenting on the case, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Mrs Tina Ogbodos said it was a pathetic case of mistaken identity:
"Uchenna Okereke and his gang robbed the victim, Okorie Orie 10 years ago. They came back to kill the victim but his son was mistaken for him and they killed his son, Onyekachi Orie. They are now in our custody."
The alleged chief culprit, Uchenna Okereke toldSunday Sun:
"The man sent us to Abakaliki Prison 10 years ago. After we were released from prison, we came to retaliate. When we got to his house, we thought he was the person we saw sleeping on the bed in his room. We didn't know it was his son before we shot him. It was a member of my gang who later said it was not Okorie Orie that we killed, that it was his son; we just had to escape from the scene. Later the man we wanted to kill identified us again to the police."

'BRT Bus Did Not Kill Any Soldier' - LAGBUS Official Explains......

LAGBUS Asset Management Limited, operators of BRT buses have denied that one of their buses killed a soldier. Soldiers went on a rampage yesterday around the Palm grove area of Lagos, stopping BRT buses, asking passengers to get down, beating the drivers, destroying the buses before eventually setting them on fire. The damage yesterday is said to be worth over N100million.

But speaking about it, a LAGBUS official said they had nothing to do with it, explaining that they only found a corpse in their bus and went to report it to the police;
"By 10 p.m. last night, one of our buses broke down at Onipanu; by 11 p.m., a rescue team with a van went to the scene to tow the bus. Unfortunately, area boys started stoning our team which made our men to leave. Meanwhile, the driver put on hazard lights and C- Caution to alert motorists of the breakdown.
"By 5am this morning, before the rescue team got to the scene, a corpse had been deposited in our bus and a motorcycle parked behind it.
"When we saw it, we reported the case to the Pedro Police Station, Somolu, but before we got back to the scene, soldiers had burnt down five BRT buses and one belonging to LAGBUS.
BRT buses were later withdrawn from the roads yesterday to prevent more damages. The man who died was an army corporal

Abducted Chibok Girls: Seven Parents Die Of Trauma!

Eight-one days after the abduction of their children, seven parents of the abducted female pupils of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, have died of trauma.
The National Chairman of the Chibok community under the Kibaku Area Development Association, Dr. Pogu Bitrus, disclosed this on Friday at a news conference in Abuja.
He said the Boko Haram sect had killed 229 people in 15 attacks on the Chibok community.
The community asked the Federal Government to negotiate with the terrorist sect for the release of the 219 Chibok school girls abducted by the group.

Bitrus said the Federal Government had yet to provide adequate security in Chibok area since the girls' abduction, even in the face of persistent attacks by the violent group.

He also called for the construction of the 40km Mbalala-Chibok-Damboa federal road which he claimed had been abandoned for over 20 years.
Bitrus said:
"Today (Friday) is 81 days since the abduction and in spite of the firm categorical statements by the Chief of Defence Staff that the location of the girls is known to the government, the appalling situation and agony encompassing the unfortunate abduction saga and detention of the Chibok girls by the Boko Haram insurgents continues and the rescue efforts by the government is yet to yield any result.
"So far, Boko Haram has carried out 15 attacks on the Chibok (Kibaku) nation involving 19 villages with over 229 killed and over 100 injured. Some of the victims of the attacks are parents and relations of the abducted girls and thereby adding more pains to the traumatic condition in the Chibok community.
"While the situation persists, many distressed parents are dying of heart attack and frustration as their dejection had become unbearable. On record, seven parents have lost their lives due to the trauma of the situation."
The Chibok elder, however, called for the reconstruction of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, and building of another secondary school in the town as a result of large number of students in a class.

Photo: 3 Female Undercover Operatives Of Boko-Haram Arrested By Nigerian Army!

The Nigerian army have released a statement stating that they have arrested 3 women who worked as undercover operatives for Boko Haram. See statement:

In the aftermath of the failed suicide bombing attempt on a military facility by a female terrorist who blew herself up in Gombe recently, troops have arrested three suspected female terrorists who have been secretly recruiting ladies into the female wing of the terrorists group. The suspects, Hafsat Usman Bako, Zainab Idris and Aisha Abubakar were intercepted while travelling to Madagali from where they were to transit to the forest to reunite with their cohorts.
Investigations revealed that the suspects, led by Hafsat Bako, have the mission to recruit members into the female wing as well as conduct espionage for the group. Hafsat's link with the terrorists group had earlier been a subject of investigation in 2012, when security agents on a manhunt for one Usman Bako, her husband who was identified as a terrorist, stormed their residence in Jimeta.  This resulted in the discovery of an AK 47 rifle and 2 loaded magazines.   Though Usman Bako later died in an encounter with troops in Sokoto where he had relocated to continue his terrorist activities, Hafsat continued with the terror group specializing in surreptitious recruitment of members into their fold.
The arrested trio suspects were luring ladies especially widows and young girls by enticing them with male suitors who are mainly members of their terror group for marriage. Before their arrest, they were on a mission to take additional briefing from the leadership of the terror group.
The trio has been operating together as members of the intelligence team of the group.   Their arrest has yielded information still being verified by security agencies.

Confab Endorses Creation Of Ijebu, Aba, 17 Other States, Supports Presidency Rotation.

Members of the ongoing National Conference holding in Abuja yesterday July 3rd while deliberating on the report of the committee on political restructuring and forms of Government in Nigeria, endorsed the creation of 18 new states to add to the existing 36 states. They also endorsed the rotation of the Presidency between the North and South and other Geo-political zones in the country.

The members suggested the creation of a state for the South-East geopolitical zone which has only 5 states in order to bring the number to 6 which is the number of states of other zones, apart from the North -West, which has seven.
Some of the proposed states approved by the Confab are Apa from Benue State, Kainji from Kebbi, Katagum from Bauchi, Savannah from Borno, Amana from Adamawa, Gurara from Kaduna, Ghari from Kano, Etiti from South East, Aba from Abia, Adada from Enugu, Njaba-Anim from Anambra and Imo,  Anioma from Delta State, Orashi from Rivers State, Ogoja from Cross River State, IJebu from Ogun State and New Oyo State from the present Oyo State.

The Conference is to later determine the names of the remaining two other states and their capitals, which are to be created in the South-South and South West zones. If approved by the Presidency, the number of states in the Country would now be 54.

The conference members also voted for the rotation of the Presidency between the North and South and also between the geo-political zones. They also voted against the immediate swearing-in of a Vice President into the office of the President should a sitting President die in office or be impeached.

They proposed that a Vice President should be sworn in as Acting President for 90days within which a fresh election for a new President should be held.

The delegates also agreed that the old national anthem, "Nigeria we hail thee…" should be replaced with the current one.

Edo Government Cancels Teachers’ Competency Test, Recalls 936 Sacked Teachers!

Edo State Government has reversed the planned competency test for teachers in the state  and  recalled the 936 teachers whose names were deleted from the payroll over certificate discrepancies and age falsification.
Government also announced the immediate extension of the relativity to teachers in the state public schools.

Making the announcements Thursday, Governor Adams Oshiomhole during a meeting with the Nigeria Union of Teachers [NUT] and the Nigeria Labour Congress [NLC] said "On assumption of office, it was very clear to me and my colleagues that our future is defined by the level of investment in education and the quality of the basic education we provide for our children and that is why we have devoted resources to the rebuilding of our Primary Schools, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools.

"For me, it was clear coming from my own background, I had obligation to restore dignity to the educational sector in the state. Basic education is like the foundation of a house. If the foundation is weak, the building will collapse but if the foundation be strong, it will withstand the test of time. It is easier to re roof than to re build a complete house"

He said the need to ensure the future of the state is not by compromising the future of the Edo child, but the necessity and action to redefine the educational system in the state,  He said this    was why the state government was committed to carry out competency test.

Oshiomhole however, noted that having discovered that some of our teachers were not qualified or up to date with recent teaching methods, government insisted that competency test must be seen in this light.

"But having listened to all suggestions and consultations with various groups, government has agreed to set aside the competency or assessment test in order to re assure Edo workers that government has no intention to sack anyone", he stressed.

The Abducted Chibok Girls Are Being Raped And Shot On Camera- Senator Zanna Reveals!

In a new interview with Sahara Reporters, Senator Khalifa Ahmed Zanna of Borno Central says the missing Chibok girls are being raped and shot... Read!

Sahara TV: A lot of people are worried, after 70 days, how are they feeding the girls, how is the health of the girls. Do we know anything about that?

Senator Zanna: Actually the information I'm getting, some of them are very disturbing. Although I don't want to mention but they are just raping the girls on camera and even showing them on video, releasing it to the public. Somebody told me that they were shown being raped, and in turn, it is the girl who was raped that came out kneeling down and begging the man to be patient. Do you know the reason why? They said when they rape them they shoot them.

Therefore the girl after being raped, she curled down to the man, kneeling down and begging him to please be patient. So disturbing. And although I didn't see the video, the person narrated to me, he said he had the video, and he was narrating to me, and look at the situation.
And then the other scenario is that the Boko Haram are now out of funds, they are not getting enough food. So they are going from one village to another, taking the little the villagers had,
and going away. In fact most of the villages are almost moved out of their villages and moved to cities or gone into the neighbouring countries. So more or less they don't have any chance of getting food. So I don't know what they're going to do, if food is not available are they going to sacrifice to give it to the girls.
And then, the other information I have, because you know the kidnap is a continuous process which they have been doing before the 200 and after the 200. So in their position, there are up to 500 or over 500 women who are being taken from the streets, on the main roads where they are traveling, or they go to the villages and collect them; all kinds of abductions.

Photos: Soldiers On Rampage On Ikorodu Road, Set BRT Buses Ablaze, Beat Innocent People After A BRT Bus Killed An Army Officer On Bike!

There is a serious chaos going on at palmgrove, Ikorodu road following the killing of an Army officer by a reckless BRT driver the early hours of today. According to sources, Soldiers have come out in group stopping motorists, beating passersby and setting BRT buses ablaze seeking vengeance for their dead colleague. An eye-witness said The BRT driver who hit the soldier ran into Palmgrove estate in order to avoid the wrath of other soldiers who shortly after the accident arrived on the scene. Upon noticing that the driver ran away, the Army men ran into Palmgrove estate and when they couldn't find the driver, seized one of the Estate's security men. the soldiers beat the man mercilessly and took him away. He was released hours later badly beaten and traumatized.
The extent these soldiers have gone this morning over the death of their colleague is too extreme. Here is hoping the Lagos state government intervenes fast and calm is restored.

Photo: 4 Yoruba Women Abduct 9-Year Old Girl And Sell Her For N650,000 In Lagos!

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four women for allegedly abducting and selling a nine-year-old girl, identified simply as Blessing, for N650,000.
The women are Fausat Ogidan, Abibat Oresanya, Bola Obajuruwa and Idiyat Abass.

According to Punch, Ogidan, who was with the nine-year-old girl, and collected the sum on behalf of others, was arrested in the Gbagada area of Lagos. The 51-year-old woman, who is married with four children, had arranged to sell the girl and on that Sunday. The girl was given to Ogidan by Obajuruwa, commonly known as Iya Alaje, who lives in the Suberu Street, Alakuko area of Lagos.

Iya Alaje also confessed that she had told Ogidan to sell the girl for N350,000 before she was caught.
She said,

"I used to sell herbs in the Agege Market. I told Fausat (Ogidan) to sell the girl forN350,000, but Fausat added N300,000 as her own profit. The girl was sold to me by Idiyat (Abass) and her elder sister, Abibat."I bought her from them for N130,000. They said they were going to give the money to the girl's mother who wanted to get rid of her because of poverty."
Obajuruwa, when arrested, had led the police to Abass and Oresanya, who got the girl from her parents and connived to sell her.
Our correspondent further learnt that Abass, a 48-year-old woman, who was living in the Salau Dogo Street, Ibafo area of Ogun State, had obtained the girl from her mother, who the police said was still at large.

It was gathered that Oresanya claimed that Blessing's mother had wanted to dispose of her and use the money obtained to take care of her other children. However, during interrogation, Blessing, who said her real name was Yetunde, told the police that she was kidnapped from their residence in Ibadan.

A relative, who identified herself simply as Funmi, claimed that Obajuruwa gave out Blessing, who was her grandchild, to a customer to assist in home chores.
She said,
"There are about seven to eight children in this house. They are all Iya Alaje's grandchildren. So, it happened that when one of her customers put to bed recently. She pleaded with mama to give her someone to assist her. Iya Alaje took Blessing, her seven-year-old granddaughter, to be staying with her. The second day, Blessing ran away from that house, and told the people who saw her that she had been kidnapped by the customer.
"That was why the police arrested mama and the customer, saying they kidnapped the girl."
Our correspondent learnt that investigations were ongoing at the SARS on the matter.

'I'm Still Waiting For Boko Haram To Accept My Virginity Offer In Exchange Of The Missing Girls'-Adokiye

Adokiye made tongues wag when she offered her virginity in exchange for the release of Chibok girls. Her statement made it to international sites like Huffington Post, Daily mail and more..In a new chat with Bellanaija, she stands by her words..
When asked if this was a publicity stunt, she said..

I made an open offer to some group of people. The question is why they haven't accepted my request? They should gather up the girls, prepare them for release and then I am sure they will find out if I'm still a virgin. Publicity card to promote my music and image?Let me take us back to when this whole thing started, these same people called it "Scam", "Publicity Card" by the Government and now look where we are today.
A lot of Nigerians are unbelievers and I'd say it is mainly some of our problems today. I am not stupid to play with something like this, let me even ask! Promote what music? I have not released any music or plan to even release any music anytime soon. So what music am I promoting? As for my image, if crying for freedom for the release of innocent children, a reminder to the nation that kids are still missing is promoting my image, then I say to you, let my image soar!
Don't get me wrong, I am not promoting rape or pleading to be raped as what some people are making the situation seem like a joke but whatever those kids are going through, I say kids because we are not talking about girls anymore as you know little boys have joined in this.
Whatever it is they are going through, because we cannot see them, I would say should be thrown to me instead and allow them be freed.
I want to use this opportunity to apologise to all the women around the world who have gotten my fight twisted for some reasons or the other to see this as not only a selfless service to humanity but to fall back to the biblical times where Jesus urged us to be our brothers keeper and love others as we love ourselves."

On why she is so open about her virginity

"Virginity has its own spiritual benefit.A lot of girls that are virgins think virginity is not worth keeping probably because they are being mocked and called names, a lot of people say virginity is lack of opportunity.
So I am using this great opportunity to let the world know that if you are a girl and a virgin, oh you have a precious gift.
Make sure you end it up with a man who knows your worth, a man who knows what it means to have a pure lady. It is not a thing to be shameful about at all. Be proud."

Police Arrest 50 Suspected Boko-Haram Members In Association To Apapa Bomb Blasts!

When reports of the Apapa blast on 25th of June filtered out, it was suspected to be a terrorist attack.
However the blast-which happened in front of a tank farm and at the Alex Junction both on Creek Road — initially attributed to a gas explosion that claimed four lives-was later associated to an accident with rumors of terrorism refuted.
But now, the latest report of the blast reveals that the police suspected foul play and has been investigating the blast. "Reasonable progress" is said to have been made.
The Lagos state police command has launched a massive mop-up of suspects after conducting preliminary investigations.
About 50 suspects were picked up between Monday and Tuesday this week by police operatives from different divisions. They were then transferred to the Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
The suspects are being thoroughly interrogated "and those who are believed to be innocent are being released," a senior police officer is quoted to have told reporters.
The officer said there is "reasonable suspicion" that some of the suspects have infiltrated and are setting up terror sects.
He said:
"Some of them were picked up from Apapa, Ijora, Berger, Isolo, Mushin, Idi-Araba, and some other places in the state based on a tip-off. Currently, we are quizzing the ones already arrested on the suspicion that they are Boko Haram members. Already, we have gathered that some of them are Nigerians while the rest are foreigners who smuggled themselves into the country without the appropriate pass. If after investigations, they are deemed clean, we will release the Nigerians among them to sureties but the foreigners will be deported if they are cleared after investigations. However, if investigations reveal they are Boko Haram members, we will take them to Abuja for further investigations and then they will take it up from there."
