"Why I Buried Ex Customs Officer And Her Daughter Alive"!- 64 Year Old Herbalist Confesses.
Emotions ran high, yesterday, at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, following the startling confession of a 64-year‑old herbalist, on how he buried a 68-year‑old retired Customs officer and her 10-year‑old adopted daughter alive in a shallow grave behind his shrine in Ajuwon, Ogun State.
The suspect identified as Alhaji Olatunji Azeez, who was paraded by the command's boss, Umar Manko, showed no sign of remorse as he said he committed the act in order to prevent the victim from demanding N9 million he used to prepare concoction for her.
Trouble started for the retired Customs officer, one Mrs Angela Kerry, who resided at New Oko‑Oba area of Lagos, following her inability to give birth.
In her search for possible solution, she was reportedly introduced to the suspect who confessed to have carried out series of rituals and also prepared concoctions for her to no avail.
Apparently disappointed, Kerry was said to have demanded the refund of N9 million earlier collected from her by the herbalist last month, consequent upon which he invited her to his shrine at 9, Wadoye Street, Ajuwon to collect the money.
Unknown to Kerry, who went in company of her adopted daughter, the herbalist had a sinister motive up his sleeves.
How mother, child were buried alive
Narrating how he buried both mother and child alive, the suspect who claimed to have three wives and five children said: "She provoked me to anger. I did what I did because I considered her an enemy who was out to kill me if I did not act fast.
"It all started five years ago when she was introduced to me by her friend, one Lizzy. She was attacked spiritually and I helped her out. She came again over a similar attack and I also prepared some concoction which saved her. She told me that her family members were after her and I said she needed to fortify herself.
"Three years ago, she revealed that she has not been able to give birth and had not been pregnant for one day. I told her it would be impossible since she had reached menopause but she objected, saying many prophets had told her God could do it.
"Along the line, she said she wanted to sell her property at Omole, that she wanted to travel abroad to be away from her family. After selling the property, I discovered so many pastors started coming around here to get a share from the money realised. In fact she told me that she had paid N15 million to some pastors already.
"Then I told myself that if I did not act fast, these people will collect everything from her. I had to tell her to bring N9 million to prepare some concoction for her pregnancy, even though I knew it was impossible for her to get pregnant.
"She gave me N9 million. But after nine months, she came back saying nothing happened and demanded a refund. That was where trouble started. I managed to pay her N 3.5 million and begged her to be patient for the balance.
"Then she charged into my temple one Friday demanding that she should be paid that day. I told her I won't pay her and that if she had gone to the hospital and the treatment failed could she have demanded a refund. She threatened to deal with me if I did not pay her, saying she would show me she was in the force.
"I told myself that this is war because I remembered she once showed me a gun at her apartment. I knew it was not a mere threat because she said she would kill me and nothing would happen. That threat provoked me. I knew that when two people are fighting, the first to attack will emerge winner.
The plot
"So, I decided to act fast before she tarnished my image. I pacified her to come back next day for the money. When leaving, I told her not to come with the daughter.
"After she left, I told myself I needed to act fast. I went to a building at the back of my shrine where I dug a hole. I spread a mat on the hole and laid a white cloth on it, exactly the way it looks in my shrine.
"When she came next day, I told her to go inside the building that we needed to pray before we talk about the money. She asked if the prayer was for the pregnancy and I told her it was for fortification.
"I warned her not to take her daughter along but she refused. I did not argue any further because I did not want my plan to fail.
"On getting inside the building, I asked her to stand on the white cloth and immediately she did, she fell inside the hole and landed on her buttocks. All I heard when she fell was yeh! When she fell, I said I have seen the end of my enemy and I have gained victory.
"The daughter did not say a word. She just stood watching. I had to cover the hole with over 40 buckets of sand.
"After covering the hole, I asked myself what to do with the little girl. I left the room, locked it from outside. When I came back at about 6.30pm, I met her on the sand. I quickly removed my jacket and poured about 30 bucket of sand to cover her. Next day, I went to get two bricklayers to cement the place."
The arrest
Describing the act as callous, the command boss explained that after committing the crime, the suspect took her Toyota Camry vehicle to a dealer's workshop to sell.
But the bubble burst when the victim's relatives reported at New Oko‑Oba Police Station that Mrs Kerry was missing.
The policemen, he said, traced the victim's car to a dealer's workshop where two persons were arrested, adding that their confessional statement led to the suspect's arrest.
"We have been able to recover the decomposed bodies and the victim's travelling bag containing her personal effects and that of her daughter from the shallow grave he buried them in," Manko said...

Boko Haram Kills 40 In Fresh Borno Villages Attack!
A community youth leader in Chibok, Mallam Yakubu Joshua, who confirmed the incident on phone yesterday, said: "Some suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded Chuha A, Chuha B and Korongilim villages of Chibok council of Borno State and killed over 40 persons.
"The terrorists injured many other villagers, burnt many houses and made away with our foodstuff. The attack, which commenced at 7a.m. yesterday lasted over five hours before military intervened. I and some other residents of Chibok had made several telephone calls to the military, unfortunately they (military) only started bombing the surrounding area of the attack after over 40 members of our community had been killed. Jorge Alberto Lopez Amores, 28, was on the deck of the cruise liner MSC Divina when he plunged over the railings into the ocean below last Wednesday.Pepe Guardilo, a fellow passenger, said:
'I saw him chatting up a pretty female journalist aboard the ship. He was animated, a result of too much booze and the team doing so well so far in the tournament.I heard him say to her: 'I am so happy that I can fly! Look at me!' And with that he stuck his arms out and dived overboard.The ship was moving at a fair clip and he vanished into the foam created in the ship's wake.By the time the ship had stopped and turned around, he was nowhere to be seen.
Shocked passengers alerted the ship's crew which slowed the massive vessel and turned it around to look for him.But the manoeuvre took over an hour and by the time the ship had returned to the spot where he took his dive he was nowhere to be seen.
The son of a wealthy lawyer, Mr Amores was one of 3,000 people aboard the ship that is cruising around Brazil, taking in football matches en-route.
Brazil's coastal waters are filled with dangerous currents not to mention sharks, with government officials in some coastal areas increasing lifeguard numbers and erecting signs in English to warn World Cup tourists about sharks.
Although the Brazilian navy has joined in the hunt for Mr Amores, the chances of him being found alive are slim.

BREAKING: Scores Killed In Explosion At Kano School Of Hygiene, One Suspect Arrested!
According to the Commissioner of Police in Kano state, Adenrele Shinaba, who confirmed the number of casualties, the blast occurred at about 2:05pm at the School of Hygiene which is located along Bayero University Kano (BUK) road in Kano, and has suffered similar attacks in the past.
Addressing reporters at the scene of the blast, Mr. Shinaba also said several others were injured and have been taken to the hospitals for treatment, while lifeless bodies of the affected students have been deposited at the morgue.
During the explosion, 8 vehicles parked withing the premises of the owned tertiary institution were damaged.
The Commissioner disclosed that a suspect was arrested in connection with the blast at the scene as he ruled out car bombing of this latest attack.
"Every lead seems to point at suicide bombing, unlike our previous experience none of the vehicles parked inside this school caught fire and there is no hole around to suggest a car bombing but all leads are still open for investigation," Mr. Shinaba said.
The Commissioner further disclosed that , while the injured are receiving treatment at undisclosed Government Hospital.
Reportedly, the school is adjacent to the private residence of Nigeria's Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar.

The inscription on the gates added to the puzzle of residents, but they later got to know that the remains of a missing woman and her daughter were exhumed from the structure by men of Lagos State SARS.
PUNCH Metro learnt that a suspected kidnapper, Alhaji Olatunde Azeez who allegedly killed an ex-customs officer and her adopted 10-year-old daughter over possession of her properties led the SARS operatives to the building. The suspect was also said to have confessed to be the owner of the building.
It was further learnt that the ex-customs officer, Angela Kery, and the young girl, simply identified as Obiagulum, had been declared missing from home since May 10.
It was learnt that after a series of investigations which led to the arrest of Azeez, the suspect confessed to have killed the missing woman and her daughter and buried them in the structure.
Many residents in the area said they had never met the owner of the structure, adding that the gates of the compound were always locked.
A landlord in the area, who craved anonymity, said, "We never knew who the owner of the house was. It was usually locked and I have yet to observe any form of human presence. Now it is shocking to realise that it is a kidnappers' den. That means all of us are not safe.
"We learnt that the victims had been buried in the sitting room. They said ritual killers had killed a woman and her daughter and buried them."
Another resident, who identified herself simply as Mrs. Adedotun, claimed that the suspect owned a hospital and a petrol station in other areas of Lagos and Ogun states.
"I heard he is also called Doctor because he runs a hospital. Some people call him Alhaji. He scarcely comes to stay in the house. We never knew it was because he had buried two human beings in his compound," she noted.
The Lagos State Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, said she would call our correspondent back, which she had yet to do as of the time of going to press.
But the acting Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Opeyemi, confirmed the incident.
He said, "Actually, it is not our case. The case belongs to the SARS of the Lagos State Police command. But we brought our men from Ajuwon to ensure that people in the area do not burn the structure. They are still patrolling the area as I speak to you."
It would also be recalled that it was reported on June 17 that two structures belonging suspected kidnappers in Ogidi and Ojoto communities in Idemili North and South Local Government Areas of Anambra state were demolished by the police.

According to Irish Mirror, a friend of Ricky's, a teenage girl, got into the water and was almost drowning when Ricky and another female friend jumped into the pond to try to save her. The other teen girl who jumped in to help also now had difficulties in the pond, and it was up to Ricky to save both girls. Which he did. Paramedics were called and all three teens were taken to the hospital. The two girls survived, but Ricky died the next day.

"I had sex with her once. I didn't use condom. I am responsible for the pregnancy. After raping her, I threatened her not to tell anybody. I told her that she would die if she told anybody. It was when the pregnancy became known that her parents came to my house and I confessed to them."

Gunmen Attack Edo State Deputy Speaker's Convoy.
PMNEWS reports that the lawmakers were attacked on their return from Ebele, Igueben local government area of the state, where they had attended the investiture of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, Chief Anthony Anenih, by the Anglican Church during their 16th Synod.
While narrati ng their ordeal, one of the lawmakers told newsmen in Benin that the three of them were inside an SUV belonging to one of them and were returning to Benin in a convoy consisting of some other vehicles when the assailants stopped their convoy at Abudu, headquarters of Orhiomwon local government area of the state and opened fire on them.
The lawmaker stated that one of the gunmen was, however killed in an exchange of fire that followed between the assailants and the security operatives attached to the deputy speaker.
He also added that one of their drivers was shot and is now receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.
Commenting on the incident, Edo State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, said the lawmakers were just ahead of them when the incident happened.
He said that it was obvious that the lawmakers were the target of the attack and that the incident has been reported at the Abudu police station.
The party chief stated that his party could not understand why the attack happened at a time when some of the lawmakers in the Edo State House of Assembly just joined the PDP.
"They were confronted with a hail of bullets. The event they attended was well publicised and it is obvious that the attack was aimed at them. We call on the police to investigate and find out the people behind the attack.
"However, we thank God for saving their lives from blood-thirsty political assassins," Orbih said.
It could be recalled that the Edo State House of Assemble has been in turmoil for sometime that had led to suspension and counter suspension from members of the house.
Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole recently accused the presidency of masterminding the crisis in the legislative house with the aim of removing the Speaker of the house.

Names And Faces Of The Abducted Chibok Girls Finally Released!
"I was shown these pictures after visiting Nigeria this week. I met the leader of the community council in Chibok, the town from which the girls were abducted. Slowly and with tears in his eyes, he flicked through a file in which he had recorded the names and photographs of the girls. Not even the police and Army have managed to compile such detail he has amassed from talking to the parents of the kidnapped teenagers. The file has 185 pages — one for every girl. Each page has a photograph, and beside each passport-sized picture some stark facts — the girl's name, her school grade and the date of abduction. For the other 19 abducted girls, he has yet to locate photographs.
The community leader and the girls' families have given permission for their names and photographs to be put into the public domain so the world is reminded of the missing girls. He is being helped to publicise this by Arise TV chief Nduka Obaigbena.

Police Officer Slumps In Anambra After Being Transferred To Borno State!
A Police officer reportedly slumped yesterday after following a directive by the Inspector General of Police,transferring him to Borno State. According to This Day,the officer, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) attached to the Central Police Station, Nnewi in the Anambra State Police Command, had less than a year left to retire from the service was among the 149 officers affected by the postings to different parts of the country.

21 Dead, Others Hospitalized In Yobe Viewing Centre Explosion!
Tuesday’s explosion at a soccer viewing center in northeastern Nigeria has claimed the lives of 21 people, a hospital source said Wednesday. Another 27 were injured in the blast during the showing of a World Cup match, said the source from Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital in Damaturu.
