Shooting Stars defender, Izu Joseph, has been confirmed dead after he was hit by a stray bullet in Bayelsa over the weekend.
The player who was in Bayelsa, his home state, for holidays after a gruelling season in the Nigeria Professional League was rushed to the hospital after the incident.
Sadly, he did not survive thus joining the long list of deaths recorded in Nigeria football in 2016.
The Oluyole Warriors are already mourning the sad exit of one of their trusted defenders, paying him tributes on Monday.
“A Shooting STAR is gone! Izu Joseph is gone! Flamboyant defender is gone! RIP, brother. What a life! May God strengthen his family #Tragedy” the Ibadan-based club wrote on their official twitter handle on Monday morning.
