Yesterday 22nd January, A serious riot took place at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo campus. It was a violent protest as students disrupted the second semester examinations taking place in the campus to make their grievances over the hike in school fees from N25,000 to N250,000 per session known. continue.....
Trouble started when the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Obafunwa ordered that the registration portal should be closed to students who hadn't paid up their fees.
The VC's insistence that the portal remains shut, thereby meaning that students who weren't able to register will have to carry over the course.
A decision which infuriated the students and they decided to take matters into their hands by destroying properties and throwing stones and sticks at the VC's convoy as he made attempt to escape via an alternative route beside Conoil Filling Station, Ojo
