There are new reports that one of the high ranking men in the United States military, General David M. Rodriguez has arrived Nigeria to assist the federal government in the search and rescue of the abducted Chibok school girls.
General Rodriguez became the third commander of US Africa Command (USAFRICOM) in Stuttgart, Germany, on April 5, 2013. The US Africa Command is one of six unified geographic combatant commands within the Department of Defence unified command structure.
A native of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Rodriguez earned his commission from the US Military Academy at West Point, New York in 1976. The renowned general's additional commands include the International Security Assistance Force – Joint Command (IJC) in Afghanistan; the 82nd Airborne Division; 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division; and 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
He has also commanded companies in 75th Ranger Regiment and 1st Armoured Division.
