Algerian aviation authorities have lost contact with an Air Algerie aircraft en route from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso to Algiers, about 50 minutes after take-off, the APS state news agency reported on Thursday.
An Algerian official told Reuters that the missing plane, an Airbus A320, was carrying 110 passengers and six crew.
Separately, a representative of Spanish airline company Swiftair, which operated the aircraft on behalf of Air Algerie, confirmed to Reuters that the flight had not reached its expected destination at its scheduled time of 0510 GMT.
