The Chelsea captain, 35, was out of contract this summer but he has signed a new one-year contract.
Terry’s contract saga has been ongoing since January when he told reporters that the club would not offer him a new deal. However, last week it was announced that Chelsea had offered Terry a new deal and after an emotional speech at Stamford Bridge on Sunday the center back has now pledged another year to the west London club.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Terry confirmed he will be back for a 19th season as a pro at Chelsea and it will be purely a playing role.
“I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Everyone knows I’m Chelsea through and through,” Terry said. “I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one. Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support. You’re the best in the world.”
