It was a swift response to the case of a hi-jacked School Bus, taken at gunpoint on the outskirts of Abuja at about 7:45 am on Tuesday, 6th May. Police Operatives attached to the Nasarawa Police Command, following a tip and a massive hunt, intercepted and recovered the bus. The vehicle, a Toyota Hiace with registration number XG 246 GWA, and belonging to The Vine International Academy, Nyanya, Phase IV, was recovered along Lafia Road in Nasarwa State.
Police say two men were arrested, and issued the names of the suspects they now have in custody as, Victor Essien, male, aged 40yrs, and Ubong Bassey, male, aged 49yrs.
The case of the missing 270 female students in Borno state, and world attention focused over their kidnapping, has put all Nigerian police agencies on 'high alert' to other potential school-related kidnappings, a police source told SaharaReporters.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, psc, while commending his men for a job well done, has publicly reassured Nigerians of the enhanced state of security in the Federal Capital Territory, and its environs. Abubakar added that the Nigerian Police are committed to the task of providing the citizens and participants at the World Economic Forum "world-class security services now," and beyond. He stressed publicly to citizens to "remain vigilant," and to continue to support Security Forces in the task of securing the nation.
