The All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed a professor of Law, Professor Yemi Osibajo as Gen M Buhari’s running mate for 2015 Presidential election. Osibanjo was a former Commissioner and attorney General of Lagos when Tinubu was governor . He was picked after extensive consultation by stakeholders of the party in the zone.
According to political analysts, he was said to have been chosen owing to his unparalleled loyalty to Tinubu and had head to head advantage over others eyeing the position, one as a distinguish professor of Law and as a practicing pastor
The candidature of Prof Osibanjo is aimed at balancing the Muslim , christian divide, as General has at one time or the other been regarded as religious fanatic, Choosing Osinbanjo , a pastor at the Banana Island branch of The Redeemed Christian Church of God is aim at selling Buhari both to the Christians and the Muslims. As a presentation of a viable product in a political campaign is a prerequisite in the winning the election.
The choice of the professor according is aimed at getting the majority of the South Westerns who may have feel alienated in the political circle.
Other candidates said to be in the list for the VP slot were Former Ekiti governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state., Governor Raji Fashola of Lagos state, and Ahmed Tinubu who was been rumored as likely to overshadow Buhari based on his towering financial position in Nigeria.
As they begin their political campaign, stakeholders of the rival party may be in serious consultations as the choice may tilt the political equilibrium in the Peoples Democratic Party.
