Have you ever wanted something so bad you could taste it, see it, feel it? That’s the place God wants to take us, a place of desperation, where you can overcome every obstacle!
What does it mean to overcome?
Is it when you are faced with an obstacle and you decide to press your way forward anyhow?
For the planters and horticulturalists, is it when you are planting and you find there are weeds trying to kill your beautiful garden, you diligently remove the weeds and keep planting anyway? You continue to plant because you are determined and confident in your garden’s ability to flourish in spite of! Can the same be said about you as a beautiful flourishing vessel that God has designed to radiate His love, His beauty and power?
Sometimes you need to be reminded that the same power that lives in the Lamb of God is the same power that lives in you! But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (Romans 8:11 KJV)
Most recently, I am reminded of the power to overcome through prayer and faith when I think of my sister Edwina’s story and how she and our family had the faith she would overcome! On our last visit just a few months ago we spent time with a frail yet positive young lady filled with so much promise. She was supported by oxygen machines that needed to be taken along on any journey she would take. There were times two or three oxygen tanks were needed depending on the journey ahead. Despite the extra baggage and the inability in this season to fulfill her life’s calling to deliver newborn babies into this world, she still found time to mentor other midwives new to the field. They would even discuss the possibilities of traveling to upcoming conferences after the impending lung transplant. Many prayers and just a few months later, specifically on her birthday this would no longer be a dream but a reality. She was granted a special kind of gift this birthday, two lungs that would be the perfect fit for immediate operation and recovery.
When our dear mother (my mother in love) was asked what words of advice she would pass along if given the opportunity to expound on this beautiful testimony, she left the following thoughts to be considered:
– Pray consistently
– Pray specifically about what you need because we serve a specific God,
– When the doctor supplied the Specific type of lungs needed and she received the dimensions, she prayed specifically for that size and here we are!
– Specific instructions were left concerning how the ark should be built
– Adam and Eve received specific instructions on what to eat in the Garden of Eden.
– This is how we know our prayer has been answered because we made a specific request to the Lord. Do not be general because certain things may or may not happen!
Today is your day to overcome doubts and disappointments.
How did Lot overcome losing his wife who looked back? He kept moving forward, trusting in what the Lord said. He followed the instructions of the Lord. He and the rest of his family were saved as a result of his obedience to the Word of the Lord.
It’s time to overcome by reclaiming all that was lost. You will recover double what you lost. How did Job overcome? We’ve heard his story time and time again…He gained double for His trouble, despite the naysayers and non-believers! You just keep moving forward! My husband recently pointed out at a home Bible Study instead of 7 sons, 3 daughters, 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen…(Job 1:2-3) Job later gained
7 sons, 3 daughters, 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen (Job 42:12-13)
It all happened in less than a year, in the span of a few months ( Job 7:3) we see that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. (Ephesians 3:20) When the disappointments that are meant to derail you come, praise God anyhow! Our God will see you through!! He has already seen you through. The fact that you are here rejoicing in advance for the battles that will be won, to reclaim what was lost and in some cases gain “double for your trouble” is a testimony to that fact.
Let’s take a look at a lady in the Word, Hannah who was led to believe by her circumstances and the signs that was all around her, that she would never have a child of her own. As a lady dealing with infertility, how did she overcome? She prayed, wept, sought fervently after the Lord and He turned it around! Yes, He will turn it around for your good. He will perfect that which concerning you!!
What does The Word tell you? Pray the Word over your situation even when, especially when it seems like the odds are stacked against you, that is when God can show up and prove to you and everyone else around you that He Is God and God alone! He sits high and He looks low, He hears your cry. What is your cry today? Let it out before the Lord right now, let it become a prayer of your heart and watch Him work on your behalf!
God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet: and setteth me upon my high places. (2 Samuel 22:33-34 KJV)
You are an overcomer!! Have the faith to overcome!!
