It seems too quick to forget the slaughter of 42-year-old RCCG Evangelist, Eunice Elisha Olawale on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Gbazango-West area of Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja around 5:30.
Though her remains were buried on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Gudu cemetery Abuja, the news is just getting to her 72-year-old father, Pa Ayodele Akun.
The news of his daughter’s mindless murder had been kept from Pa Ayodele Akun, because of his ill health in the last two months, even after burial which had in attendance two aides of President Muhammmadu Buhari – Babachir Lawal, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Femi Adesina, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.
Though family members “lacked the courage” to break the news to their father, he couldn’t be kept in the dark for too long. According to a facebook post by Apata Emmanuel, the deceased’s cousin, the old man received the news with the greatest shock and is in pains. He wrote: “I sincerely solicit for your prayers for Baba Akun, the father of my late sister Eunice Mojisola Olawale. He hasn’t come out of the shock after the news of the death of his beloved daughter was broken to him today (Wednesday) in his house Itawure, Efon Alaaye, Ekiti.
“He will be taken back to Lagos tomorrow for medical attention”.
The mother of the deceased, Elisabeth Akun, who was informed of the unfortunate incident long ago and took grievously ill on reception of her daughter’s tragic death, has now been discharged from the General Hospital, Ilawe-Ekiti, few days after she was hospitalized. She is yet to fully regain her sanity. Emmanuel wrote on Facebook, “Mummy Elisabeth Akun said ‘I prayed enough but if God can still allow this to happen to me I know His grace will be sufficient for me’.”
